CURRENT PROJECTS:
We are currently working on two pine plantations in Upshur County, TX. Both plots were timbered and planted at the same time. However one was done according to the Management Plan, and the other was planted with more trees than the plan called for. The image on the left is an example of too many trees. When too many trees are planted, trees must compete for nutrients and sunlight. They then grow tall but small in diameter cutting profit margin dramatically. The image to the right shows the proper amount of trees planted. Trees are larger and will produce a higher price at market when they are thinned.
